how I write my thoughts on books

it might seem a bit dumb to make a post about this. But I make it harder on myself so I’d like to keep a record of it.

So first I read the book of course, I keep track of the started and finished dates via Goodreads, though I’m trying to lower my usage of Amazon lately so I’m considering switching to a spreadsheet on my phone.

Then I write down in a physical notebook, using one from Taroko notebooks currently which I adore. This is mostly an excuse to use more bottled ink, since I mostly use fountain pens, but I came across the idea when talking to someone and they mentioned a friend keeps a notebook for reviewing the smut they read, and that just struck a chord with me. And when I read Mrs S, I knew I had to start doing it too.

Then I type it down (big fan of Pretext for iOS), heavily editing or rewriting the whole thing. Here’s where I usually just forget about it for a few days before remembering to upload it to here.

As I’m sure it’s obvious, I’m a terrible writer and I’ve spent the majority of my life being terrified of other people seeing anything I wrote. But this process manages to make it entertaining and a bit less scary to me, I get to play with shiny pens and ink after all.

So it’s been a big deal to me. I hope to keep growing in both blogging and other stuff (lol) as I age.
