So what if the greasy incel teacher who bullies children was Harry's dad? That's basically Severitus fics in a nutshell. Not always his biological father, but sometimes its adoption or he's a mentor or maybe its just focused on Snape's mission to protect that kid at all costs. But yeah there's something really interesting to me about writers working to try and make something redeeming about like one of the most garbage people in this franchise. Sometimes they file off all of his rough edges; sometimes he just stays the same piece of shit he's always been, just more active in protecting Harry. It's all fun to see what they'll do to him. Also like poor Harry needs a parent of some kind, fuck.
Little guide to my notes by the fanfic names:
- 🏳️⚧️ there's a focus on transgender identities.
- ⚠️ Its unfinished and hopefully still ongoing.
- (#/5) my very informal, yet legally binding rating (fyi 2 is okay).
Snape is more of a mentor.
Mostly just Snape helping a boy out. Usually because Snape has had a similar childhood.
- Just real quick but InwardTransience's The Good War fits this perfectly.

Year 3 Harry gets Snape as his guardian. - The Climb by greenTeacup (5/5)
Sadly taken down, but this was really damn good. Basically Lily leaves Harry to Severus in her will. - Crime and Punishment ⚠️ words: 218,421 (5/5)
Harry gets accused of robbing a house, Snape takes him in and quickly realizes he was mistaken about the boy. - I Am Not the Ghost You Are to Me words: 11,230 (4/5)
Snape realizes Lily's daughter is being abused by her relatives and immediately kidnaps her. - Namesake Necklace ⚠️ words: 284,082 (5/5)
The most Snape is a dad without actually being a dad. Harry is turned into a 6 year old. Countless instances of Snape picking him up ensue. - Seven Drops and Asphodel Blooms ⚠️ words: 122,582 (3/5)
More Year 3 Harry is sent to Spinners' End for the summer. - Shedding Lionskin 🏳️⚧️⚠️ words: 59,825
very teenage edgelord vibes, potter ends up being a sociopath lol. But I found the early part where Potter is bonding with Tonks to be really cute. - shining bright words: 640 (5/5)
Little story with Snape and 8 year old Harry. - Snape's Promise⚠️ words: 96,791 (3/5)
Snape adopts an eight year old Harry. - Whispers in the Castle words: 38,929 (5/5)

- aim & ignite ⚠️ words: 531,911 (4/5)
So everything by this author is about her OC Ariel Evans, the daughter of Snape & Lily. They're all kind of different takes on how the father-daughter relationship starts, Snape is always completely terrible but maybe he'll warm up to this dad stuff. This is definitely the longest one fyi and has like peak Snape is so fucking bad at this. - Her Mother's Eyes ⚠️ words: 5,069
Some short chapters about a female Harry clearly not being James's daughter. - The Masks We Bear 🏳️⚧️⚠️ words: 75,424 (3/5)
Intersex Snape and trans masc Harry are father and son.
Snape is daddy.
I decided to make this category as a joke because this ship sucks a lot, but oops i read a few on accident.
- Grey Hours words: 112,867 (4/5)
Magic Cop Harriet goes back in time to stop the last of Voldemort's followers from killing her mom before Harriet can be born. Also her present-day Snape shows up too. - The Never-ending Road words: 557,783 (4/5)
So Snape is trying to ignore this Potter child who doesn't remind him of James at all but rather Lily. Meanwhile Harriet Potter finds him interesting. The sequels get into the bad ship, but this one is mostly just she eventually has a crush on Snape and also her friendship with Hermione, which is like really well-done imho.
