So after a glancing at harry potter fanfics, I found an author by the name of inwardtransience and holy shit, her fics are fucking wild. Long as hell stories, repeated themes of living with trauma, extended info dumps on exactly how magical society works in these stories. These all hit weird parts of my brain, probably the ADHD containing part tbqh.
The Good War-verse
This is like the Inward work imho, it feels like its got a bit of every little thing that makes the author tick, like every obsession crammed into one thing. Sometimes tbqh its really fucking weird, but I just adore seeing what Inward's brain spits out next.
- The Good War words: 2,291,207 (5/5)
Really hard to read child abuse starts off this one, but its kind of important to the story? Basically its about Elizabeth Potter, The Girl Who Lived, and she would really like to be left alone and never be around an adult again. Fortunately, Snape cares a lot about his students. - Cut content from The Good War words: 34,622 (5/5)
A collection of cut scenes from TGW, they nicely note if they're canon or not too. - A detailed outline and glossary for The Good War words: 21,482 (5/5)
Exactly what it sounds like. - of Hazel Potter, in the House of Longbottom words: 246,734 (5/5)
The start of a series of The Good War spinoffs, all about if The Girl Who Lived got adopted by different families, this one is the Longbottoms of course. The author kept this one lean, so its just the important scenes, and god its real good. Its so good seeing Hazel be clearly the same person as Liz (The Good War), just shaped by their completely different upbringings. Also its teasing at a Cinematic Inwardstransience Multiverse and I'm fucking loving that.
Things that aren't The Good War
but like these might be pretty familiar in their own ways, Inward's world building is used for all these works.
- Children of the Gods 🏳️⚧️ words: 740,283 (5/5)
Cassopeia Black decides to adopt The Boy Who Lived, who is a metamorph and not really sure what gender is, but mostly presents femme. She's also autistic and ends up becoming part fairy, and I have no clue where this one is going and i adore it. - To Reach Without 🏳️⚧️⚠️ words: 389,144 (5/5)
In a fit of accidental magic, Harry wakes up as a girl. Will she continue to live like this (yes lmao)? Will she hate Dumbledore (also yes, its inwardtransience). tbqh I fucking adore this one a lot. - Her Mother's Love ⚠️ words: 219,495 (3/5)
Hazel Potter has a very helpful voice in her heard that might be her mother, and this voice will do anything to protect her girl. Even for this author, this one is fucking insane; you find out later that Hazel isn't human and gets to experience all the bigotry you'd expect from a feudal society that can't even tolerate humans who can't use magic. Warning: Hazel is basically a 'sex vampire' (her words) and thats just as uncomfortable to read as you'd expect. Still if you want some tirades about cultures that exist in other works by Inward but are rarely shown, this is great at that.
Star Wars Stuff!
Turns out Inward also loves some Star Wars! space! lets go!
- Echoes ⚠️ words: 283,714 (5/5)
Inward's take on the plot of KOTOR 1. Definitely worth seeing for the takes on the Force and fictional space languages, nevermind that this Revan is a really fun character as well. - First Contact words: 343,304 (3/5)
Its a crossover with Harry Potter, where Beth Potter is now fighting off an invasion by the Yuuzhan Vong. Yep, its based on the old EU books lol.
First Chapters of unrealized stories
Little bits of stuff that the author puts out occasionally. Just ideas she didn't go through with.
- A Slow Goodnight words: 8,974 (4/5)
Petunia is visited by Lily shortly before her death, leading to Petunia to decide to properly raise her niece. - Embracing the Role words: 24,598 (3/5)
Hermione is realizing that magical Britain sucks and maybe she should do something about it? Its a single chapter of what would've been a longer work, so its just some setup. But theres some very good rants about runes and magical body modifications. - Carmina Armōrum: the Seducer Aria words: 12,362 (4/5)
Sirius doesn't chase after Peter and instead decides to raise his god-daughter. - From a Distance words: 9,451 (3/5)
Dark witch Ellie Potter (The Girl That Lived) travels back in time, in a failed attempt to save her parents. Instead she ends up adopting Harry Potter. - Unexpected Complications words: 13,071 (3/5)
People keep writing in Diary Tom Riddle, he's actually pretty reasonable.
