Oh my god, this book fucking hits hard. Just a combo of real good body horror mixed with isolation and the horror of a lack of autonomy.
Our lad John gets convinced to don a hollowed out android for a Halloween costume and her body starts to influence him in various ways. By the way. sincerely do not read the following if you haven't already read this story.
I adore the 'man being consumed to make the girl' aspect, I loved the Kimmy community supporting each other through the hell that is their lives, which just made the part where our girl is put into airplane mode that much worse. God damn.
This book is so damn beautiful, seriously. I super fucking recommend reading it.
